Apple crumble is a traditional family favourite and it’s hard to tell that this version is gluten free! Serve apple crumble warm, with cream, yoghurt or custard.

Equipment:

1lt/2pt oven dish and mixing bowl

Ingredients:

3 cooking apples
75g brown sugar
3 tbsp water
4 cloves (optional)
250g FREEE Plain White Flour
150g caster sugar
150g butter

Method:

180°C, Fan 160°C, 350°F, Gas 4

  1. Pre-heat the oven.
  2. Peel, core and roughly chop the apples into a 1lt/2pt oven dish.
  3. Add the brown sugar, water and cloves if used then stir to mix.
  4. Measure the flour and caster sugar into a mixing bowl.
  5. Slice the butter into lumps, add it to the bowl and roughly mix with a fork, to create lumpy ‘breadcrumbs’.
  6. Tip the mixture over the apples and spread it out to the edges.
  7. Bake for 55-60 minutes.
