About this recipe:
Simple to make these flatbreads can be cooked in a frying pan, on the griddle or even on the mature embers of a BBQ.
Equipment:
BBQ, griddle, skillet or frying pan, tongs, large bowl and jug
Ingredients:
125g FREEE Self Raising White Flour
pinch of salt
25g natural yoghurt
75ml tepid water
25g extra flour for dusting
oil
Method:
- Put the flour and salt into a large bowl and blend them together.
- Measure the yoghurt and water into a jug, stir to combine.
- Pour into the bowl and stir to form a soft dough.
- Cut the dough into 4 pieces and roll each into a ball.
- Cover with a clean tea towel and rest for 10 minutes or up to 2 hours.
- Lightly oil a dry non-stick frying pan or griddle and heat until nice and hot.
- Rub a little oil onto your fingers and shape the dough balls into 10cm/4” circles.
- Transfer the dough circles to a hot skillet, griddle, frying pan or mature BBQ grill.
- Cook as the dough puffs up and the underneath becomes flecked with brown specks, about 1-3 minutes depending on the heat.
- Using tongs turn the flatbread over and cook on the other side.
- As the flatbreads are cooked, wrap them in a clean tea towel until ready to serve.

Super quick and easy to make! Really good taste and texture. I didnt notice any difference letting it rest for 10 mins vs 2 hours so its a super quick recipe

These are amazing. I have never made flatbreads before, but these came out fine. They were a bit sticky to handle, but now I have learnt to put the rolled out balls onto a floured plate, and it works brilliantly every time.

Tastes nice (I added a little cumin) and were great for scooping up Dahl but they were trickier to make than the other reviewers suggest. The dough is super light, super sticky and falls apart very easily. In the end I made small thin disks, transferred to the pan and the pressed them thinner in the pan with a floured wooden spatula. I would make again.

I have just become gluten free and I had given up hope as all the gluten free stuff in the shops are completely rubbish. This gave me exactly what I needed from a flat bread, it was delicious! I had mine with a mint yogurt dip. It was perfect. I just need to make a larger batch!

I love making these. They are so simple. I use coconut milk yogurt as I am on a low fodmap diet and it works out fine. Really tasty and versatile.

Love this recipe! My first one in the pan took ages to cook - my fault for not having the pan hot enough - I fixed that and next 3 breads cooked very well and they were light and soft. I tried with and without oil in the pan, both worked and I prefer without because I could smell damaged fat (I used olive oil which is safe to less than 180 degrees C. I might try coconut fat which is saturated and much more stable with higher temperatures but it didn't really need it). As I'm vegan I used coconut yoghurt which worked well. I kept them warm on a prewarmed plate with a breakfast bowl over them. Had ours with curry and will try the other suggestions too.

These were super easy and really tasty and eaten by all the family willingly! Even though it's just my son who has an issue with gluten. I made them using lactose free yoghurt too. They were perfect for our picnic with houmus. Thank you Doves Farm, you're saving my lockdown!

These flat breads went down really well. We added ground almonds & raisins to liven them up to go with a curry...simply bliss. Thank you.

This was delicious! I adapted slightly to made a deep-dish style pizza base - fried both sides and then topped and placed in the oven, and it was amazing! Thank you for this recipe, and this website!

Very good recipe, quick, easy and tasty. I add a bit more salt (1/4 tsp) and sometimes slather in garlic butter! Nice without butter too though and go very well with some soup. Absolutely delicious with chopped fresh rosemary mixed into the flour before adding the yogurt and water. I used two sprigs, took the leaves off the stalks and chopped up.

These worked so well! They puffed up nicely and were easy to roll out especially considering they were gluten free. I used 100ml dairy free milk instead of yoghurt - super easy and delicious!

These are really clever designed, brushing with water gives a bubbling that’s often missing in GF food, the recipe is quick and easy, the flatbreads are small but delicious.

These were so simple and delicious. My daughter stole them off my plate and ate them, even though she's normally very fussy. Love them!

We tried this today - estimating the ingredients as we are camping and don't have a measuring scale to hand. This exceeded our expectations - the recipe is very easy to follow, it's quick to make and my husband, who is coeliac, loved having this flatbread with our barbecued chicken. This will definitely become a staple when camping.
