I freeze a block of margarine and grate it , instead of using suet. Use same quantity as you would suet. Makes lovely dumplings.

I have used this recipe many times now and it never fails to please. I tend to use slightly fewer herbs as they can be overpowering. I also like mine to have a crispy top so leave them only half in my mince dinner. You can add a little more flour if they are a little sloppy when making the dough. Thank you :-)

Excellent winter warming dish. I love dumplings, however being intolerant to wheat I find it very difficult to purchase suet without wheat flour, in most supermarkets. Perhaps in the future this is an ingredient that Dove farm would consider stocking.? Many thanks.

Have used this recipe for some time now and it never fails. Delicious dumplings in either a stew or soup. I tend to sit them on top of my stew in the oven and the tops go lovely and crispy. A rare treat for those of us who have to adhere to a Gluten Free diet.

Tried these for my husband who has recently had to go gluten free. Absolutely delicious now going to try the suet pastry to make a steak and kidney pudding - his favourite.

Excellent! I have been looking for a GF dumpling recipe for years. None have really worked but this one was a complete success first time. Nobody would know they were GF (my guests didn’t).

Not sure what I did wrong as I followed instructions but unfortunately they fell apart completely or were uncooked inside (when tried cooing for less time). I ended up cooking them on steam and they were okay.

Not sure what I did wrong with these but they were very salty. I think that this was baking powder as I only put a small amount of salt in.

I have missed dumplings greatly since my husband developed an intolerance to gluten. I tried almond flour , tapioca flour and coconut flour, but the mixture disintegrated into the stew or casserole, spoiling the texture of our favourite recipes. I then found Doves Farm free from flour and to my delight the dumpling recipe worked. I watched the eight balls of dough disappear under the surface of this year’s turkey stew only to reappear, looking for all the world like proper dumplings! I tried not to get my hopes up and waited the twenty minutes required by the recipe. They were fantastic. I’m cobblering them tonight ie baking them for twenty minutes on top of a lamb casserole. I suspect they will be equally delicious. Many thanks Wendy
